That packet of doll doll clothes is the exact one that I still have!

My most memorable childhood Christmas is the one when my beloved Grandma sewed an entire wardrobe for my favorite doll! All the patterns in the envelope shown, plus another envelope -- including lace trimmed slips and undies and a fur trimmed coat! Some of the dresses were made from scraps of the dresses she'd made for me, so we had matching outfits. She must have sewn for weeks and weeks.

This was probably around 1950, when dolls came wearing one outfit, and the only way to change their clothes was if you had another doll about the same size. Pre-Barbie for sure! That extensive wardrobe made me the envy of all my friends!

What a surprise to see my pattern envelope featured here!! Thanks for prompting some sweet, sweet memories.Arlenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05990538193868937692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1172620894432077557.post-88619575011398665402009-03-25T18:12:00.000-07:002009-03-25T18:12:00.000-07:00Hi, I love the pinafored girl on the magazine cove...Hi, I love the pinafored girl on the magazine cover, both my daughters wore similar aprons when they were younger. However, now we all wear similar aprons , usually termed priarie full pinafores.
I do have a few aprons with ruffled hems and bibs very much like the Sears photo we keep for wearing when out, (Church/markets etc.)
Blessings,
Grace.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1172620894432077557.post-2532795813331767062009-03-23T05:57:00.000-07:002009-03-23T05:57:00.000-07:00I loved pinafore aprons so much that when my, now ...I loved pinafore aprons so much that when my, now 27 year old daughter was little, I made about a half dozen for her. Lacy ones and voile ones and embroidered. There were many patterns for them in the 80's.
♥, Susanblack eyed susans kitchenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13214016311612642339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1172620894432077557.post-61240675377541750252009-03-22T07:26:00.000-07:002009-03-22T07:26:00.000-07:00Oh that Betsy pattern!!!!
