My great grandfather William Harvey Smith was born at Mud Springs in 1857. My dad drove us through the area once. The family moved here in 1850 or 1851 and ran some sort of wagon stop. There were three other children, Mary, James and Percifer. My dad wondered if Smith Flats was named for our family. Eating at the restaurant was always a pleasure. A friend from high school, Kathy Parrish, was a waitress there back then, and we enjoyed a nice dinner on Christmas Eve in 1984.<br />That WAS a great bar, one of the nicest places to "hang out". There aren't many places like that left.Heidi Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08666588441951832108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1172620894432077557.post-63518497882366169232010-04-14T09:15:28.118-07:002010-04-14T09:15:28.118-07:00nice post - learned a lot about a place i had neve...nice post - learned a lot about a place i had never known about. loved all your stories and since i am retired post office - the postal aspect was of interest. would have loved to have seen that bar!yosemite faithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01099881025316197608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1172620894432077557.post-80449214419217323942010-04-14T08:56:26.928-07:002010-04-14T08:56:26.928-07:00Thanks for the tour!
