I love calico, The second red calico pic reminds me of a bit of fabric I have. I have saved it because I had a little outfit made of it as a child and when I learned to sew I made Barbie an apron out of it. Oh... how I wish I still had that apron. I guess if I was a REAL GCG I would've saved it!Jennifer Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15194865772198170276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1172620894432077557.post-69200065621704863132009-11-20T06:42:37.384-08:002009-11-20T06:42:37.384-08:00Calico is a very "Gold Country Girl" fab...Calico is a very "Gold Country Girl" fabric too, full of history. It was a cheap and light fabric that the pioneer women used quite frequently. I have two lovely sunbonnets made of calico, and I am in the midst of collecting a costume such as a "miner 49er's" wife would wear in Kelsey, which hopefully will include a nice calico blouse. When I was a young mom I made two simple tops with elastic short sleeves and neck that were out of lovely light cotton calico, and I am sure one of my dresses I wore as a waitress at the Sierra Nevada House was a brown calico. I love the little pig and calico cat patterns, but that poor angel looks like it is being tortured. Great finds, I enjoyed this post a lot.
