You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man. I finally got a copy of this adorable book in a lot I bought on eBay a while back.
You might be thinking - hey, it's not Christmas! But, you know, this story has nothing to do with Christmas. And it doesn't have a happy ending. Not from his point of view, at least! I found this birthday card here in the house. These were neat, with the little pull-out copy of the story. I've seen other little stories and nursery rhyme cards like this. Wish I had them all.
This page was from an ABC Book that was in the same lot. I like how Mama went through and wrote the small version of each letter next to the capital letter. The better to teach you with , my dear. (I know, different story!)
This little lot of books had belonged to a little girl named Barbara Ann Miller. She must have been around the same age as my sisters and me, because many of the books are dated, some say From Mama, some from others. It's a little bit sad, isn't it? I mean, what happened to Barbara, and why didn't she want her childhood books? I'm so glad I have the ones I do from my own childhood. I'll take good care of yours, too, Barb. I promise.
I remember this book and loved it!
