A Card For Denise

Today is my friend Denise's birthday. We worked together as rural mail carriers (she's still there) and she is one of my favorite people in the world. I made a special card for her:
I just happened to have one fabulous 100 year-old postcard among my stash with a horse on it, which was perfect for her. With my limited supplies and my equally limited "crafting" abilities, I was very pleased with how it turned out. I used chalks to highlight the embossed detailing on the card border (card was purchased at Michael's, by the way, with a Christmas gift card!), and I think you can see that the horse postcard has embossed details, too - so it fit perfectly. I hope she likes it as much as I enjoyed creating it for her!
Happy Birthday,Denise!!

  1. Heidi Ann,
This card is just perfect. You did a wonderful job. Isn't chalk just masterful. It is one of my favorite craft supplies. That and the glue gun! How great to recycle the gift card "card." What a lucky friend she is to receive such a card made with love!

  3. Thanks, Maureen! But, just to clarify - the card that backs the antique postcard isn't recycled - what I meant was that I purchased a package of "ready-to-embellish-or-print-on" cards with envelopes at Michaels using a Gift Card I got for Christmas to pay for my purchase. Sorry that my post was confusing -and thank you again for your compliment!

  4. Turned out cute! Thanks for the visit and I don't know where the pink candy corn came from-my aunt sent it over.

  6. I love the card Heidi. I have no craft talent but Hobby Lobby and Michael's have such wonderful crafts for beginners like me. The one thing I can do is crochet. I'm starting back up again after years of not doing it!

  7. Oh, Deanna - I think that's wonderful that you are taking up crochet again! I never did learn how to knit or crochet.

  8. I wish you would quit saying you have limited abilities in arts and crafts. You have ENDLESS POSabilities because you can imagine a wonderful outcome, and you attempt to get there. The effort is the thing, you could just sit there and imagine, but you don't, you try and if you try, there is no failure and no limit to what you can do. You are a very talented and creative person. So there. Love T
