Campbell's - I love you - I really do.
Always have.
I love your soups; I grew up with them. To this day, Bean With Bacon is one of my VERY favorites:
And I love your recipes made with soup. I remember way back when I first discovered Golden Mushroom Soup. I already LOVED Cream Of Mushroom, and the "Golden" variety quickly became a favorite, too :
I love your cookbooks full of recipes made with Campbell's soup. I even devoted a full previous post to them, and I found another one, below, just recently at a thrift store:
But I'm so disappointed in you - because you no longer make this:
Oh, the Supper Bakes Lemon Chicken with Herb Rice was SO good. It was one of our favorite things! I always added fresh lemon juice in place of some of the water to make it super extra-lemony good.
I am going to attempt to put together something similar on my own. If it turns out worth a darn, I'll let you all know.
But I'm still disappointed. If we had known it was going to be discontinued, we would have tried to stock up on it!
:(
Bean with Bacon, that's what I want all the time, but Rich always wants Chicken Noodle. In fact we had chicken noodle last night. I'm sorry you lost your Lemon Chicken. Sounds good. I will watch for something similiar for you too. At least we have our Chicken Diablo recipe now. Love T
ReplyDeleteDon't you hate that when they stop making something you love?! Yes, the bean with bacon is good, but I will always be a chicken and dumplings and chicken with stars kind of girl!
ReplyDeleteBummer! I love campbell's tomato soup with ritz crackers smashed up in it!
ReplyDeleteI also thought their Supper Bakes were good. I often bought them on sale and with a $1.00 off coupon to make them a bargain as well.
ReplyDeleteI have a great Golden Mushroom recipe, one of my husband's favorites. You layer sliced raw potatoes, sliced onions, and browned hamburger meat in a casserole dish with a can of the Golden Mushroom soup poured over top. Sometimes I add an extra can if I make a large batch. Cover with foil and bake in the oven for at least one hour, or until the potatoes are tender.
i don't like that happening either. so many things i love have went away. grrrr
ReplyDeleteHeidi, it is so agravating when companies discontinue items we love. Do you have a Big Lots store near you? They often carry items that have been discontinued. I will keep my eyes open for some around here! Twyla
ReplyDeleteHi Heidi, I'm going to take a gamble and hope that you see this comment :) My name is Clara and I've been looking everywhere for quite some time for a substitute for Campbell's Lemon Chicken Supper Bakes, but have yet to find one. I came across your blog and looked through some of your other past posts, but didn't find anything else about the Supper Bakes. I'm wondering if you were ever able to concoct something similar to it? If so, would you be so kind and share your recipe with a fellow lover of that amazing meal? Thank you so much!

I'm with Clara ~ I just found this post while hunting around for a recipe to replace the Campbells Supper Bakes Lemon Chicken. We LOVED that and I want to make it! It's the lemon sauce that I'm not quite sure how to replace and it's been so long since I've had it, I can't even remember much about it except that it was lemon!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone been able to replicate the Lemon Herb Supper Bake yet? I miss it so much.
ReplyDeleteMy son was just asking me to make the lemon chicken and rice I'm just not sure I can duplicate that flavor. 😒😞
ReplyDeleteThis was our absolute favorite thing ever! Campbells needs to bring this one out of the vault! Let’s bombard them on Twitter!
ReplyDeleteIm with you guys... But my favorite was the garlic chicken... How about sizzle and stir? Savory chicken and bowties? Its the sauce i cant figure out.
ReplyDeleteMy mother in law would buy this for me for my birthday. It was glorious and Campbell's is guilty of a crime against humanity for discontinuing this. :)
