We've always gotten a fresh-cut Noble Fir Christmas tree - and I love them, but here lately I have really been loving the look of a nice big artificial (yes - I said it) white tree. (I also LOVE aluminum trees, but that's a story for another day.) It's these white ones that are on my mind today.
I know I do this a lot, but I I derive SO much inspiration from my magazines, old and new. The first one is from Better Homes and Gardens 1975, and I think it looks just beautiful:
And these next two are very similar, I admit - but I can't help that. I like 'em both. First, from Country Living, 2002:
And this one, from Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion, December 2000:
I just love the pops of color against the white. I'd use all of my vintage ornaments. I am especially fond of the striped Shiny Brites. Oh, it would be so pretty.
Like I said, just dreaming.....
You could get your Noble Fir flocked. Might be messy though, I am not sure because I've never had a flocked tree, but I think they are pretty. The twinklers would look really pretty on a white tree. Nice pictures. Love T
ReplyDeleteAt the thrift store last week I saw the most beautiful white tree! The branches were unlike any I've seen--they looked like bottle brushes, the kind you see vintage wreaths made out of. It was really fluffy and gorgeous and all I could think was how amazing it would look with bubble lights and all of my vintage ornaments! Too bad for me, it was priced at $99 (ouch!), and I already have an old aluminum tree. Bummer! It was a beauty.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could get a small one for a table. Then you would have the wonderful Noble fir but you could also enjoy a white Christmas tree.
ReplyDeleteThese photos make me want one too....
i love the old ads you show heidi. we haven't had a tree since the early 70's. but now living up north in michigan i have beautiful - although not decorated - all around me.
ReplyDeleteHeidi, Tommy and I actually HAVE a big white Christmas tree! In fact, we just finished trimming it on Sunday. We LOVE it! And you're right about the ornaments really popping against the white background. :)
