I bought these two patterns recently; both are from 1966:
I wouldn't mind learning how to make some of those pretty rick-rack flowers. Maybe if I ever have time, I will attempt to do so.
The two pictures below were taken of a lovely picture that Tina gave to Lori a few years ago. Rick-rack flower crafting at it's finest:
And - speaking of my sisters - I got to see them both on Wednesday for the first time in three months! We had a nice afternoon together, first we did some thrift-shopping and then we enjoyed a nice meal at "Mel's" in Jackson.
It was fun! I miss them.
Miss you too!!! Had a lovely time!!! Great rick rack stuff!!

ReplyDeleteI love those! I made rickrack dahlias a few years ago (saw them on someone's blog) and they were so cute and fun to make!
ReplyDeleteWhat?? You were in Jackson and you didn't email me? Do I have to make a special trip to Sonora to see you?
ReplyDeleteReally... it's OK, because I was in Marysville, but next time let me know. I would love to met you and your sisters.
In 1965, when I got married, I had rick rack on the scarves that my bridesmaids wore... yes, scarves. Blue and white checked cotton, rickrack and they were holding daisys.
rickrack: A flat braid woven to form zigzags and used especially on trimming on clothing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Heidi. Had I known that word last night, I could have dropped it at George Clooney’s mansion (Obama fund raiser) and impressed Kim Novak, Audrey Hepburn, & Sandra Dee.
I could only donate 10 million. That’s all I happened to have with me. Barack looked at me askance and George had me escorted out the door & out the gate.
Rick-rack is fun. Thanks Heidi. :0)
