A Sewing Lesson

I need another sewing lesson.
Or two.
Or three.
Or thirty-seven.

Before I left JoAnn Fabric And Crafts, I did get to take one free class. (The picture above shows the sewing supplies you receive when you take the class.) Beginner Sewing. But it was REALLY basic, and since I couldn't use Lori's sewing machine that she loaned me, that meant that, even after the class (which truly was about basics nearly too basic for even ME), I STILL didn't learn how to even really get started.
I have been collecting fabrics for a good long while, and I have so many ideas for pillows and other things that I would love to create! But since I quit there and started my other job, I don't have nearly as much free time as I used to.
"Sew", really - I've got tons of notions, patterns, books, fabric, ideas - golly, I seem to have everything I need!
Except the skills.
I am going to require hands-on instruction - and lots of it.

Maybe one of these days I will learn.....

  1. I know what you mean, even though I can sew. I have lots of ideas too. I wish we lived closer, we could have a sew day together, all of us and share our skills. Don't worry, you still have a lot of time left in your life to sew and create, and you will get there, honest! Love T

  2. Hi Heidi – Hey, if you want to sew, I sure hope you can find a way/time to do it. Trying to carve out time to do things you love sure can be frustrating. I wish you and Tina lived closer too. Oh, I know, I saw a news special on paragliding this morning. The aircraft only cost $1200 and only takes 3 to 4 days, costing 3 or 4 hundred, to learn to use. All bloggers & commenters can chip in and we’ll have Tina paragliding to Sonora in no time.

  3. Yes, Heidi Ann, you really must make the time to learn to sew and I must make the time to re-learn to sew...when I saw this post and the very first photo of the Simplicity Sew it All magazine from the early 70's, I almost cried because I used to own that issue (feels like a thousand years ago) along with the sewing skills - where did they go? I've been looking to get my hands on a copy of that magazine for old time's sake.

Wishing you much time to sew and create with your sisters.
