One More For The Betty Crocker Collection

Believe it or not, I didn't have this book yet. I do have pretty much every other one in the Betty Crocker vintage spiral cookbook category. But somehow,  the "Cake And Frosting Mix Cookbook" had eluded me. I ordered it from one of the Amazon used book sellers. I have had very good luck with my experiences doing this, and have managed to get some good deals on out-of-print books that I haven't been lucky enough to find in all my thrift-store forays.
With such nice photos......
....and recipes like the ones shown on these pages,
Naturally, I wanted to add this one to my collection!
Many happy cakes to you!

  1. I'll always enjoy these pictures - the table set with cake and and tea set, and I love the buffet table pictures. I love to look through my old cookbooks (I have a BH&G and Pillsbury Family Ckbk from my wedding shower in 1971 and I still love to read and enjoy looking through them. (I don't actually cook them - lol).

  3. I’ve had some excellent luck with Amazon’s used book stores also. “The Model Airplane Mystery” impressed me so much as a kid (5th grade maybe) that It stayed on my mind as I grew up and old (I mean older). I finally just HAD to read it again, looked for it, and found it, via Amazon. Something of a treasure to own because it meant so much to me as a young’n, though, man, no master of English Lit wrote that book, fer shur. Better than a sole-comic-book childhood though.

I began baking when I was about eight. Betty Crocker taught me how. I remember a chocolate-walnut pie concoction with a hardtack crust. Dad took a bite. Only one bite. But he praised like Andy Taylor praised Opie.

Then I discovered “literature.” I guess I’ve gone full circle.

  5. I also had a good Amazon experience. The BH&G cookbook copy (the three ring binder type) that I received at my wedding shower had become so badly damaged from use that I wondered if I could replace it. Lo and behold, I was able to get a totally new one - same exact edition - for less than $20. It is just like having that brand-spanking-new version I received as a young woman.
