Six Years

Our little Gold Country Girls blog is six years old today. I began writing it on this date in 2007.
Today's post is number 2039.
For quite a good long while, I posted every single day, but when I started back to work nearly two years ago, I simply didn't have the time any longer. It really bothered me at first  (it was a self-imposed goal), but now I have had to settle for - and accept - the fact that I will post as often as I am able, and realize that I am doing the best I can.
I never wrote about it at the time, but a while back I was forced to change my settings and I realize that the change made it more difficult and time-consuming for people to post comments. Our comments took a drop after that, and it made me kind of sad.
I truly hated to do it, but I was getting as many as 20-30 weirdo spam garbage comments every single day, some with links to probably pornographic sites ( I never clicked on any of them, of course - I was afraid to!), and I had to go in every day and delete every single one of them.
I just couldn't deal with it any more.
I still enjoy writing the blog, and it's important to me because I feel like I am putting little "pieces of me" out into the world, and I appreciate that Tina does a post a week, and Lori contributes as often as she can, as well.
I am not really sure how many people read my little blog every day, but to those of you who do, and have stuck with me through the years, please accept my thanks, and I hope that you will continue to read - and hopefully enjoy - this blog.
And if by chance you are able to leave a comment every now and then, despite the fact that it takes a little more time than it used to and isn't QUITE as easy,  I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
With complete and utter sincerity and gratitude, Heidi

  4. Happy Birthday, Gold Country Girls! I am so happy I met you through your wonderful blog. I have always appreciated the efforts you put into doing it every day. It is quite all right if you aren't able to every single day now. We've been through the spam issues ourselves so I understand and don't mind the extra time it takes to comment. We even had trouble leaving comments anyplace for awhile! Blessings to you dear Heidi, Lori and Tina! Love, Twyla

  9. I guess I better leave a comment to commemorate your anniversary! I have been reading your blog for a few years now, sporadically, and find your blog roll very interesting, as well. In fact, yours and your blog roll blogs are among the only ones I now read. So much monetizing, so much competition, some old favorites started to cause a little anxiety!

Anyway, love the blog and all your vintage finds and comments about them. Hope you have many more years of blogging, thrifting, and having fun!

    Laurie S.
