Good morning, Tina here.
On May 1st I attended a beautiful celebration of Arbor Day and May Day in Pollock Pines, California.
A gaggle of darling little girls in tutus treated us to a Maypole Dance. The Mom in the middle helped to direct their steps to do the weaving. There were colored chalk marks surrounding the maypole, each little girl had a color to follow. It was a great idea and worked really well,
Young Cub Scouts escorted the girls to their beginning places.
Skipping and jumping and running along.
A deep bow and a curtsy and the fun begins.
Those little boys were so cute, and so gentlemanly.
The little fellow below on the right was full of pomp and personality.
Okay, ready girls? Do your stuff!
They performed twice.
I had never seen a maypole before, except on film in the movie Camelot.
In between they "unwove" the pole to start over again for the second time. I was a bit disappointed, it would have been fun to see it woven all the way down the pole.
It was a great fun event.
The colors were bright against the clouds.
Good job girls and boys.
I hope we celebrate again next year!
Oh, I love it! A great idea, and so cute to have all of the kids performing. Can't remember the last time I actually saw any kind of a Maypole in person, so it was delightful to see it here!
