More Cottages

I do love a little (or big!) country cottage - whether it be one with a thatched roof like the one on the top of this vintage Riley's Toffee tin made in England:
Or one like this in ceramic. I got this on Ebay - very inexpensively - and it's like my others that are planters and/or wall pockets, except that this one is made with cutout windows and meant to put a light inside! I display it all year, but at Christmas I light it up.
See how my red ceramic one has similarities to the Mary Engelbreit cottage on this plate with it's arched window, sloped roof line and chimney?
And then, here is another from the Mary Engelbreit set , this one with a thatched roof:
I love 'em all.

  2. I love these, too. There's a house in my town with that sweeping, arched entrance (like in the first ME plate) and even though I do not want to move, I would love to live in that house!

  3. Love your cottages! I noticed when we started collecting vintage cards how much Mary Engelbreit's houses look like those old pictures. I love her art work. Love those plates! Twyla

  5. I came across your blog as I was looking for ideas for my kitchen. I love your blog! I had to comment on this post because I live in a cottage and I have a ceramic cottage that kinda reminds me of my cottage. I am living a dream and I love my cottage even though it isn't in the country. No thatched roof either! Keep up the great work!

  6. Hi I came across the same Riley's toffee cottage tin that you have on display- can you tell me what year it is made in, I'm thinking 1930's? Thank you.
