Today, we have vintage ads for Wrangler jeans and sportswear.
All of these gals are looking "behind" them.......
"You have to look for the "W" because it's silent".
Let's find that darned "W".....
I don't see it!
Those ads were all from the 1960's.
Now, here we are in the 70's, and "Wrangler thinks Americans spend too much for clothes."
And "Wrangler thinks Americans should get what they pay for".
I think that's very thoughtful.
And they're "doing something about it".
By this time, they had adopted their new slogan,
"Wremember the "W" is silent."
(Please see my previous Wrangler post, here, if you are interested.)
I like those different prints, and the high waists. Love T
ReplyDeleteLast week my 15 year old granddaughter got a pair of red Keds. The original price was $39.95. We got them half price. I was very surprised that she wanted them. I have some navy and some white ones I have gotten at yard sales or thrift shops. I really enjoy your blog. I remember Seventeen magazine. Like seeing the patterns also. Did a lot of sewing when I was in high school. I learned how to sew on a treadle machine by grandmother had received when my mother was born in 1915.
ReplyDeleteTina - I like the prints, too - they're so cute!
ReplyDeleteGail Travis - Thank you so much for commenting! I have no way to contact you directly, but I'm glad you found us! (I don't know if you will even see this.)I may have had some Keds when I was young - or a similar brand. I am so glad you are enjoying the blog, and I hope we hear from you again!

Way cute! I made my boyfriend a patchwork shirt like the one pictured above, and a short gathered skirt with wide suspenders for the Sadie Hawkins dance. I thought we looked so cute! Those were fun - and colorful - days!
ReplyDeleteCool ads! Love the first 70s one with all the colors. And a pink jean jacket-- love it!
ReplyDeleteThose bright gold jeans in the 4th picture? I had them. Wore them to an evening ball game at Fenway Park in the late 60s with a charcoal cableknit sweater and a white turtleneck. (September, probably 1969.) I think those were the only pair of Wranglers I ever had - they were too expensive and I was not allowed to wear pants to school until 1970.
ReplyDeleteLove those ads - Wrangler was probably my first pair of Jeans!!!
