Where's That Ishi?

Well, last weekend Ishi was at it again. Again my hubby called to me, "look at Ishi!"

Can you see him?

I guess Easter's fence pole climb into the midst of the lilac bush wasn't enough.

Reach for the sky, Ishi.

There may be birds up there, is that what you are after?

Lord of all he surveys.

King of the hill.

It took a bit more planning to reach the ground this time.

Not that way, maybe this way.

Easy does it, just go for it.

What summit shall I conquer next weekend?

Always, Annette

I got home rather late yesterday after a particularly difficult and long day at work with no break, and it certainly did not help my mood much when I heard the news people on television say that Annette Funicello had passed away.
I loved her.
She was so sweet, so cute, so talented.

Have you ever heard a voice that's sweeter than her own?

We are blue without you.

We will remember you always, Annette.

Our Booth: Downsizing

We decided that, as of April 1st, we wanted to save a little on our booth rent up at Mountain Treasures in Sonora. The rent had gone up on January 1st of this year, and it was simply more than we could comfortably handle. So, we went smaller. This was a real challenge, since our larger booth was very full. Here's a photo after HOURS worth of work was done last week:

But before that, it looked like this:

I had to go up and move everything off of five shelves, and then move the shelves so the wall on the left side could be moved in by four feet. Before that, I had already gotten rid of the rolling clothing rack we'd been borrowing from the owner (which I loved, by the way, but it wouldn't fit anymore). A nice gentleman helped me move the shelves:

Lori came over last week and we worked to get it looking nice again - within our now-smaller space:

Whew! It was quite a job, and we were very proud of ourselves when we finished!

The top of a shelf:

We even managed to hang up this swag lamp. I like this lamp a lot, but I do not have a place to put it, so I "put it" up for sale, instead:

The next photo shows the back wall:

To the left of the chicken-wire screen door you see hanging in the photo above, we managed to fit our jewelry display case into the corner. (You can see it a little in a couple of the above photos, as well.)  Lori and I each had some wooden vegetable crates that , when stacked together, provided a base for the cabinet, allowing room for the top to be opened, and then the crates also serve as a bookshelf and display shelves below:
It worked out very well!
Mountain Treasures is located at 13645 Tuolumne Road in Sonora, California. Drop in sometime if you're ever in the area, won't you?

And It's Time For More Thrift Finds

Popping in today with some of my "freshest" thrift finds.
A pear with some flower power on a pretty tray:

A great vintage Hawaiian shirt:
A nice vintage belt with a medallion on the end:
Who? A hooty owl in needlepoint, of course!
Daisies in cross-stitch:
A 1950 copy of the classic "Betty Crocker's Picture Cookbook":
Vintage buckles - the two on the outside were made in Czechoslovakia. We Gold Country Girls have some Czech in us, so I like that:
You know I love me some orange and yellow:
I can never resist these bright yarn gift ties:
I did not have this album; a nice addition to my soundtrack collection:
Unfortunately, the LP was missing from this "Sunshine Superman sleeve, below. It's also in pretty poor shape so I think perhaps I'll try to make a wall hanging out of it....
.....because I like the colorful artwork on the front!

Springing into Spring with Ishi

Easter evening my hubby called, "Come look at Ishi". He was on top of a fence pole in the middle of my tallest, straggliest lilac bush, chewing on the blossoms.

He posed for a second, and then was on his way.

What goes up,

Must come down.

Life is just about that simple here in Kelsey.

Handmade Birthday Gifts & Party

Sis Lori here with party pics:
I handmade some gifts for my granddaughters birthday recently. I took these fabrics and fleece....

.......and turned them into these baby doll diapers for her 5 baby dolls that needed them:

I also made some "pretend" baby wipes and put them into an empty container:

Then I fashioned a necklace fit for a princess:

In the picture below, you see some of the party decor - the paper doll banner that I showed you in an earlier post, sugar rimmed glasses for some strawberry flavored milk.....

And check out this beautiful cake made by a friend:

Here's some of the party food:

              They decorated crowns....

                With all sorts of goodies:
And here is the party girl herself, Princess Addison Belle........

She loved the pink tent her Grandpa gave her:

The family traveled to Disneyland soon after the party, and she wore her dress to the Park and saw the real Belle, and she was able to get a photo with her along with a kiss on the cheek!!!
She was definitely one excited young girl!!!!!
