Finally, A White Christmas Tree!

I have had small tabletop trees that were white before, but I have wanted a full sized, white Christmas tree for quite a while now.
I finally found a nice one six feet tall at a thrift store last December, but it was after I had already done my decorating.
Today I'm posting photos of my tree, but I'm running late and I will have to come back and add the whole story behind it as soon as I have time.
Meanwhile, here are pictures of it, in progress and then finally the finished tree.

I hope you''l revisit in a day or two, because I need to add details about this whole white tree "thing".
For now, I'm just going to tell you that it was kind of a big deal.
Details to follow.........

My Foyer Plate Displays - Three Ways

My first photo in today's post shows the way my display in our foyer looks currently.
I just decided a few days ago that I wanted to completely change it up!
I found everything you see at thrift shops, including the Beatles LP, which I framed.
I love those plates in the center, which I discovered once graced a "House Beautiful" magazine cover back in 1963:
They are the "Lea" pattern, hand painted and made in Finland by Arabia, and I think they're gorgeous. I only found a few, I wish there had been more!
The others with the black and white sort-of abstract pinwheel design are from CB2 (Crate and Barrel), and I think they're pretty cool, too!
Previously, my display had looked like this:
I had taken some of my souvenir plates and stuck them up there in front of my other plates, from when it looked like this:
Those are my Thomas Kinkade plates.
I still like them - especially because most of the ones I have are Placerville houses - but I just like to do something different once in a while!
(Sorry, I truly do apologize for the terribly poor quality of my photos today!)

My Easter Decorations

Sending Happy Easter wishes out there to all of you in Blogland!
Just sharing a few pictures of some of my Easter decorations, beginning with the photo below which shows my treasured vintage papier mache egg-shaped boxes.
The orange bunny on the left has been mine since childhood; an Easter surprise that held candy on that long-ago Easter morning. The similar one on the right was an eBay find - surely you can understand why I "had" to have it!
Assorted little treasures line a little shelf, my favorite of which is still the orange card with the bunny up at the top right, which my sister Lori gave me probably in the 1970's:
And something in every cubbyhole, here:
Atop the next shelf are two of my framed vintage Easter items (both of which have been shown on this blog in earlier posts):
I have only three of these special little wooden egg cups.
I like to think the little gal in the middle is having trouble deciding between her two suitors........
Close-up on the cubbies:
And another shot:
Easter baskets and chicks and such in the foyer:
Nests and bunnies under glass on the table:
And one more close-up, because this framed illustration from a vintage Raggedy Ann book ( which I did not tear apart, by the way) is one of my favorite things:
May all of you be as delighted on this Easter day as the little girl appears to be with her huge bowl of Easter eggs!

A Little Christmas Decor

Today, I am wishing you a very Happy Christmas Eve, and just sharing some of our Christmas decor.
My photos are not very good, but I have simply run out of time, so they will have to suffice.
The top of the piano, below looks prettier at night with tiny blue lights  but hopefully you get the general idea.....
The lamp and the piano both belonged to my mother-in-law and have been here in the house for decades.
Here's a close-up of my little tree decorated with my collection of vintage Christmas bells:
I don't have enough light in this house, so I had to take my little bird tree outside to take these photos!
(That little red guy you see at the very top in the picture above was a gift from Lori, so he gets the "prize" spot!)
I love these little birds, collected over quite a few years:
My lady on the mantel has simply donned a "crown" of sorts:
A vintage "stained glass window" brightens up a bedroom window:
And my wonderful vintage angels in the fireplace.......
Last of all, our little tree in the living room. Some day, I still hope to have a BIG white Christmas tree.
Because I need WAY more room for all of my vintage ornaments!
Have a wonderful Christmas Eve, everybody!

The Woodmans Trim The Tree

I introduced you to the Woodmans (Arthur and Ethel) back in this post.
They helped me out with some tree-trimming the other day....
We also wrapped this wooden mug tree/stand thing with a red tinsel garland, and hung some vintage ornaments on it:
You know, I really appreciated the help....

(And this is one of my very favorite little vignettes I created this year.)
Besides, I'll take any help I can get when it comes to decorating!!

A Happy And Hearty Thanksgiving To You!

I found this sweet little card at a thrift store, and with it, I wish you the happiest of Thanksgiving days!
And I also will share photos of the turkey decor around here - starting with the top of our built-in corner cabinet::
A tabletop in the foyer....
And also what is above that table:
More honeycomb turkeys - on top of my doll house:
And the top of the dining room buffet:
The other side of the buffet:
On the table:
"Turkeys Under Glass"  - and more.....
Um, can you see that I (almost) never met a turkey I didn't like?
LOL - Have a great day, everybody!

Halloween, Around Here

I just wanted to show you some of our Halloween decorations.
Let's start with my new favorite thing - the creepiest-looking thing I've got:
I just covered another one of my lamps with a mask - and I made the eyes to insert inside.
I think it turned out to be delightfully frightful!
I don't know if you remember this one, below, that I created last year or the year before:
And bin the next photo - "Oooohh - that's a very scary costume you have there, spider girl".......
At least, I THINK it's a costume?
Or do you suppose she is in some serious trouble, there?
I liked this skeleton guy in the foyer so much last year, I decided that's pretty much going to be his regular spot.
He's surrounded by masks (vintage and new) - but I do wish I had gotten a string of lights to drape around all of this, as well:
These are the two additional masks I found at a thrift and added after taking the photo:
A display on the buffet in the dining room - the masks with the wig are placed over a lamp, as well:
Here's a picture of it at night, after I had changed things around a bit:
I had to include a photo today of my dear black corduroy cat.
I have had this little guy for at least 45 years - I am extremely fond of him.
It kind of looks as though something has him "spooked", don't you agree?
These adorable little Lucy Rigg bears aren't scary at all, only sweet:
It looks like they're surrounded, though:
 What do you think?
Trick - or treat?
I'd much prefer a treat, myself - like perhaps these pretzel rods I made using a cute Wilton chocolate mold I found at thrift store for fifty cents:
Cute, and tasty, too - always a nice combination.
