Found: Colorful Vintage Afghans

I'll admit it - it's difficult for me to pass up a colorful vintage afghan!
Especially when it is extremely inexpensive, or, better yet - free.
That happened to be the case with the three you see here:

And besides, - they're warm....

And they're cozy...

 They're bright and pretty:

And I just plain LIKE them!

New (Vintage) Vera Neumann Finds

 It dawned on me that I hadn't done a Vera Neumann post in a while!
That's not good - let's remedy that situation right here and now!
First of all today, I have some bright cloth napkins to show you that I found at a thrift store:

Big, gorgeous flowers:

And another gorgeous set of napkins with the golden glow of the sun:

And that dear little Vera Ladybug:

 I found these two completely fabulous vintage linen tea towels, both with their original labels still present:

 Beautiful colors on each - and in paisley, no less!

 Lori gave me this pretty scarf for my birthday last fall:

And most recently, I found a vintage leather belt and a butterfly bath towel:

I believe that's it for today.
I'll always write more posts as I come across more great vintage Vera items to share - it just might take me a while!

Found: Random Cool And Colorful Stuff

Just popping in again with some more random finds from the thrift shops.
The thrill of the hunt surely does result in some pretty great finds, I must say!
I have never found any of this great vintage Dennison crepe paper before:

"Psychedelic Streamers"; I LOVE the bright colors on these!

Groovy, spiky, colorful package bows from American Greetings:

 A vintage tray and a gorgeous painted cookie jar, which isn't marked but I believe is most likely a Ransburg piece:

An adorable pair of vintage ladybug salt and pepper shakers in a nearly fluorescent orange, made by Holt Howard:

(I have never, ever seen anything like those before!)

This enameled copper plaque, below, is pretty cool, too:

And last of all today - Magic Mosaic, a vintage puzzle game:

Yet Another Turn At "The Drawing Board"

I've got more fabulous and colorful stationery items from "The Drawing Board" to show you.
(I've written about this great company's items three times before - click here if you'd like to see my previous posts.)
I'll start with these wonderful flower power party invitations:

Precisely the kind of vintage artwork that I completely adore;
here they are in the original package, and a view of the inside:

And this little owl card is from The Drawing Board, too - how cool is HE?!

The next few are not ones that I own , but only wish I did - more  invitations with colorful flowers:

I'd add every single one to my little collection, if that were possible!
Because I love them all.

And I've Got Some Needlepoint Finds, Too

I have also found some more needlepoint pieces and pictures that I hadn't share here on the blog as of yet.
This colorful one is a particular favorite:

But I'm also rather partial to this cute cat and mouse:

I think the next one, below, must have been from a pillow  kit.
I believe it's considered a bargello-style needlepoint?
I'm not actually sure, but it really doesn't matter - it's too great in all it's southwestern fabulousness to be left out today:

This gorgeous floral is begging to be made into a pillow as well, or perhaps used to cover a chair seat:

And so is this beauty:

I've got to make this lovely rose into something useful, as well:

Or, if I don't think I'll ever get around to making them into pillows or whatever on my own, then I'll probably sell them.
I mean - I've got entirely too much stuff around here already......

A Few More Crewel Finds

I've found a few more crewelwork pictures (and others) that I just wanted to share with you today.
You may know that I have a hard time resisting them!
This one is especially pretty, with those fluffy green flowers:

And while this next one is a little bit dirty, I wasn't going to leave it behind!

This dear little girl, below was actually given to me by another vendor at Mountain Treasures.
I know it's from a Jiffy Stitchery kit titled "Prayin'", and isn't it the sweetest?

I found these two that I believe were also most likely from Jiffy Stitchery kits, and somebody had made them into cute pillow covers.
 They actually looked pretty sad when I spotted them at a thrift store, but once I brought them home, pressed them, and found pillows to stuff inside, I thought they looked pretty good!

So, thank you to the ladies who stitched these up years ago, and thank you to Denise for the little praying girl, and thank you to whomever donated the others to the thrift shops so that I could come in and find them and give them a new home!

Happy New Year! And Another Calendar Goes Up ....

And I do resolve to at least TRY to get more posts published this year!
Today I just wanted to share another calendar with you.

It's too fabulous not to share.

 

I  do LOVE my Susan Branch calendars, but here in this house we have calendars hanging in four or more rooms, so no, I do not have too many!
I was so happy to find that I did, indeed have a great vintage calendar that I can hang in our sunroom.

 I had used a wonderful vintage Charles Wysocki calendar in 2017 that was from 1972, and boy, was I sorry to see it go.
I didn't think I had one that would be the same calendar as 2018, but then I looked through my stash and I do!
1979 will do very nicely, thank you very much.

 So pretty - the artwork is a delight, as always:

It's pretty fabulous:

 Colorful and wonderful and Wysocki.....

 It's ALL good.
 Now, that's the way to start the New Year right, I believe.

Finally, A White Christmas Tree!

I have had small tabletop trees that were white before, but I have wanted a full sized, white Christmas tree for quite a while now.

I finally found a nice one six feet tall at a thrift store last December, but it was after I had already done my decorating.
Today I'm posting photos of my tree, but I'm running late and I will have to come back and add the whole story behind it as soon as I have time.
Meanwhile, here are pictures of it, in progress and then finally the finished tree.

I hope you''l revisit in a day or two, because I need to add details about this whole white tree "thing".
For now, I'm just going to tell you that it was kind of a big deal.

Special Vintage Finds For Christmas

I just wanted to share a few of the most special finds I've managed to bring home recently.
Let's start with this gorgeous Nativity trio, below:

I had seen a photo of this very same set in a copy of magazine, the current issue of "Vintage Holiday", on page 56.  It was in an article about Brynne Delerson of "The Gathered Home".
Honestly, I had just stared at that photo more than once, thinking to myself how lovely the figures were, and that I'd never seen anything like them - not in a photo in print or online, nor anywhere in real life.
I truly could not believe my eyes when I walked into a thrift store and found the VERY same set!
At the same time (same place), I found the beautiful papier mache angel below, also:

 I have quite a collection of vintage angels - but I did not have one like her.
All of those were certainly wonderful additions to my collection, and very special, indeed!
Lori actually found this ceramic cottage cookie jar you see in the next picture, and picked it up for me:

It's perfect - and it's the only one I have that truly looks "Christmasy"!
 I love it.
And it needed to be here to join the other cottages in my collection - but you knew that!
I found these two Wise Men, below made of burlap at a local thrift store.
The one on the left was missing his crown, so I fashioned one for him with things I had on hand:

Believe it or not, I walked into the same thrift shop over a month later, and who do you suppose was sitting there on a table, looking like he was waiting there just for me?
You guessed, it, the OTHER Wise Man!
I was very happy to bring him home, and unite the trio:

And I also found this lovely Christmas tree pendant:

I didn't have anything like it, and the sparkle of rhinestones makes me happy!
