It's Barbie Dress-Up Day! #1 "Friday Nite Date"

I decided I wanted to start a new series of posts: Barbie Dress-Up!
Honestly, it's really just an excuse for me to play with my dolls.
I don't have a lot of vintage Barbie clothes - but I am going to take what I do have and play dress-up with them, and then show them to you. All I have of this first set, "Friday Nite Date" is the adorable blue corduroy jumper.

Wish I had the other items. We used to have a lot of things. I think our neighbor gave them either to Tina or all of us when she outgrew them. Nice neighbor, huh? She was. Over the years, I think mother took a lot of them to school when she was teaching, and they disappeared. Only a few things remained, and I have collected clothing over the years whenever I found something I could afford!
I have become inspired by Lindsey's Barbie Wednesday posts over at Two Crazy Crafters to play with my dolls more often!
Who says you have to grow up?

I had Friday Nite Date. Most of the clothes and Barbie items I had, I received as gifts for birthdays and Christmas, I didn't get any of the neighbor's. But Linda had almost everything, including the bridal gown, and I got to go over and play with her and my Barbie (who sported a brunette ponytail) got to wear all of those clothes too. I am going to really enjoy this post! Love T

This is SO CUTE. I have the same Barbie, but with dark brunette hair. My mom would not buy me any clothes because she said they cost too much for doll clothes. She made her an outfit and then I used bits and pieces of lace and such to make more clothes.
I did, however, get the little booklet with that same picture and always wondered how close the real clothes came to matching the pictures. This dress is even cuter!
I'm looking forward to more Barbie pictures :)

Great idea. Can I come over and play with your dolls too? Do you have a Ken and Skipper? Can I be Skipper? Plleeaassse?

And farmlady - nope, we don't have to grow up!

The jumper was the best part of that outfit so at least you have that to enjoy! I love the Friday Nite Date outfit too! I always have it displayed on one of my Barbies. I think I have everything but the shoes and the 2 tenny tiny straws that were in the juice glasses. A black tray that had the Barbie logo is part of the set and you can find the trays on ebay fairly cheap.
I look forward to your series!!!!
Have a great day, Lindsey

Oh, I remember! I bought this outfit with my potato-picking harvest money at Sam's Toyland in Caribou Maine in late September. I was 10. I remember picking it out on the shelf, I remember the texture of the soft blue corduroy and the colorful felt glue-on decorations, and I remember the tray, shoes, and the drinks. Thanks so much!
