You know that old saying "March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb?" Well, it went out like a lion last night here in the foothills of the Gold Country. Some areas got hail, the higher elevations got snow, we got rain here. But it's not enough. Not by a long shot.
All right - so it's April now, and - no foolin' - we NEED more rain around these parts, so I say bring it!
If I had this great plaid umbrella, raincoats and accessories I could truly be stylin' if I wanted to go for a walk in the rain!
That's Susie Blakely on the left below.
(As usual, I apologize for not knowing the name of the other model).
Or, you know, if you happen to have an extra one kicking around, and if you want to, I would not complain at all if you wanted to send me one of these great vintage Peter Max umbrellas, being shown off in the picture below by Bonnie Lysohir on the left and Joyce Walker on the right:
Wish I could still send for this "Funbrella" for $3.95, courtesy of Right Guard Anti-Perspirant:
Guess I'll probably just have to settle for my pink raincoat or one of the umbrellas that I already have.
But I AM ready for more rain.
California still needs it very badly.
(Photos are from my vintage Seventeen magazines - top picture from February 1968, and the other two are from April 1970.)

Love it all! Those PM umbrellas must go for a pretty penny today!
If I had still been getting Seventeen in 1970 I would have ordered one for sure, after buying my spray deodorant. Vera Bradley has very nice umbrellas, but I would love to have one of these! Love T
Great ads! We had 4-5 inches of snow here yesterday too but, for the most part, it melted away. From 32 degrees in the morning to the low 50's by mid-afternoon. The lion and the lamb are still battling! (Rob)
Great ads - I would have loved to have sent away for that umbrella!!
We need winter to go away, they are talking more snow for us....
Yes, we did get a hail storm night before last. It was short and fierce... and now, the rain. We certainly need this. Spring has finally come through with the rain that Winter lacked. Hope it lasts until July. (wishful thinking.)
If I had that umbrella, I would send it to you. Very cute and so 1960's.
I believe the other model is Jane Hitchcock.
Love your blog.
