Indian Maidens

I found this great little paperback book from 1935 at a yard sale.
It has some lovely illustrations inside, as well:
This card is the Indian Doll from a box of vintage cards I bought called "Dolls of Many Lands". Isn't she pretty?
This image is my favorite, though. This piece of vintage sheet music is the one I love most in all of my collection. Our Grandpa taught us this song years ago. Is she not gorgeous?!
I can't help wondering whether Peter Max might have been inspired by this years ago.

What a great post. I love that song, of course! "And the moon shines tonight on pretty Red Wing..." That could have been last night, or tonight! Aren't we lucky we had musical grandparents? Beautiful illustrations. Love T

We really are lucky. If I hadn't had the musical background we grew up with, I would not be the person I am today. That I know for sure.

Gorgeous!! I love the 40s/50s depictions of us natives (the nice ones anyway)- they were drawn so beautifully.

I have 5 of the dolls of many lands cards framed in two separate prints in my little Audrey's room, they are so sweet! How many cards were in your set? So cool!

Hi Kim! I got the box with 17 of the original 18 cards still inside. It made me a happy girl.

Oh my, that Red Wing sheet music is beautiful. And let me just say how glad I am you (and your two sisters, too) are the people you are today! :-)

I cracked up when I saw your post because my sister was an Indian Maiden. Do you remember those in like the mid '70's? It was a little Girl Scouts/Brownie Troupe type of thing. ANNNYWAY! That's where mind went--sweet memories, but not as sweet as your post! Those cards are beautiful and grandparents wonderful.
