Do you remember these? Picturesque - The Elegant Mosaic Craft:

When I moved in with my husband, the mosaic pictured above was hanging in his living room. His mother made three of the pictures. I found one of the boxes in a closet when we moved into this house:

This is on the front of the box:

And this matching pair were still here, too:

I also found two brochures or catalogs which feature pictures of 27 different designs that were available for purchase at the time.

It's funny, because I didn't use to like them - but now, I do!

I love the one with the orchid and hummingbird! I'd like to create that one right now!! Nice!
I like them much more than the embroidery kits from the 70s that I used to make. I think I like the first one shown the best. I think your mother in law must have been a very interesting person. Happy early mother's day to her in heaven. Love T
My sisters were quite into making those, and I got to assist on a few!
Are those gravel art? What a cool find! I'd never seen them before, that I knew of, til I found a contemporary artist who was recreating kits in retro designs. I would LOVE to get my hands on some - and now I have a brand name to search for on ebay and Etsy! Yay!
Oh, and, do you have a Flickr account? These would be popular if you scanned the brochure and uploaded pix of the completed ones you have! I'm TikiLisa on Flickr.
Hi Tikimama- I don't have a Flicker account, but that is a nice idea. I did see an Ebay listing recently for a kit or two that had no bids. You could search completed listings, and e-mail the seller to ask if they might relist? Thank you for stopping by my blog!
I don't believe I have every seen this craft. Very interesting and it looks beautiful. Twyla
this is new to me and i agree your mother in law must have been so interesting - such diverse and wonderful range of interests.
I have three that my mother did in the 60's. A peacock, an egret and yellow roses. She did a beautiful job on them and I love them.
I made the 2 Owls for my grandmother back in the early 70's. I have them proudly hanging in my living room. My mother found 2 unfinished, Little Girl PQS-38 and Golden Cockatoo PQS-24. I would love to finish them, but they are missing some stones, glass and sequins. By the way, I have pictures of my 2 sisters and I that look very similar to yours. Ann
