Then And Now #75 Crisco

First up today is the sweet cover on this Crisco "cook-booklet" from 1945;

Fried chicken, from 1948:

Cake, circa 1950:

The "merriest Christmas Cookies ever!", from 1952

1955 - "Crisco ends pie crust failure!"

The New Crisco - from 1961:

And, back to fried chicken again, 1978:

Butter Flavor Crisco from 1988:

"Now", of course, Crisco has a lot more products - from Butter Flavor Crisco sticks...

.....to olive oils and cooking sprays!

I remember my Mom and Grandma using Crisco all the time! I love those aprons and the blue bowls in the background!

Look at those frosted cupcakes around the base of that bigger cake... Who says cupcakes are only a modern theme!

Give me a cute red gingham apron and a nice plate of fried chicken and I will be in heaven. I think I have the first cook-booklet too. Very yummy post. Love T

Hi Carol- i love the aprons and the bowls, too! That gives me an idea - wouldn't it be great fun to try to recreate that scene for a photo shoot? I would love to do something like that!

The most noteworthy thing about Crisco now is...it's no longer made by Proctor & Gamble. J.L. Smucker (as in "with a name like...") acquired Crisco, Jif peanut butter and Folgers coffee from P & G
