Ransburg, Bright And Beautiful

I found a bright and lovely Ransburg bowl recently - an orange one!

It may not seem that special to you, but I have been collecting Ransburg for years, and I have never found a bowl (that I could afford!) before.  And on half-price day at a thrift store, no less!
I have a couple of the flowered crockery cookie jars, and two pairs of salt and pepper shakers, but never a bowl - until now.

These were hand-painted and they would be unlikely to have survived in perfect condition through years of use.

Mine is plenty perfect enough for me!
And it looks pretty great holding our Clementines and bananas.

O, Blenko - How I Love Thee

I own only one piece of Blenko glass, and it was here in the house when we moved in.

Obviously, I will never part with it. My in-laws had good taste:

I found this ad in a vintage magazine of Lori's:
I love the curves found in some of their glassware.
Unfortunately, I have never discovered any Blenko in the thrift stores I haunt regularly.
Maybe, some day I'll get lucky.

A Vera Scarf

I found one Vera Neumann scarf last week. The condition isn't perfect, but the price was right (cheap!), so I can live with it:

I found this cotton scarf, below on the same day.
This one has no label nor the Vera signature, so I suppose it's doubtful, but I can't shake my strong feeling that the pattern really LOOKS like a Vera to me!

What do you think? Agree, or disagree?

Found: Pretty Paper Items Old And New

A bright vintage tally card - Lori spotted this for me at a thrift shop - I love the colors!

A pair of Mexican bark paintings:
These two are a nice addition to the larger one I have had for years.
(Click here to go back and see my post about that one

From Michael's, gorgeous floral notebooks and tags:

Cute invitations from Hallmark:

And just one more for today - from Current, lovely vintage folding stationery notes:

What's Penny Wearing? #86 One From A Thrift and One Was A Gift

Today, Penny presents a red bandanna-print shirt I found at a thrift store in Jackson. I like the snaps down the front:
Cute - and vintage, to boot, with a label to let me know it's "Craftwear" from Old Albuquerque, New Mexico:
Just a week or so later, my friend Jamie gave me this Vera Bradley bag:
They look so perfect together - I will pair them with jeans:
I think some red cowboy boots might look nice with them, too. But I don't have any of those.

Just A Little Love

Just sending our readers a little love today in living color - in the form of my favorite Love stamps from 1973. In fact, it was the very first Love stamp, and  featured the artwork of Robert Indiana. (I also wrote about this stamp back in THIS POST.)
These were a recent eBay purchase:
And, coincidentally, also from 1973, another recent find - this great wooden hanging plaque.
I love the colors on this:

"Love, If You Would Be Loved."
Wise words to live, and love,  by.
Have a LOVE-ly day, everyone.

Then And Now #93 Campbell's Tomato Soup

A classic today for my latest "Then and Now" post: good old Campbell's Tomato Soup.

My first advertisement is from 1930 - notice the Campbell's Kids in these first three:

The next advertisement is from 1939 and this cute Campbell's Kid has a bushel of tomatoes:
Another Campbell's Kid, raking leaves from 1948, below:
Spaghetti sauces made with Campbell's Tomato Soup are featured in this ad dated 1960:
From 1965 - fix your family a "meat-za pizza"!
In 1970, you could send for a mug:

From 1973 - "Some Memories Give You A Nice Warm Feeling Inside":

This advertisement, below is my "Now" example - found inside my most recent issue of Family circle magazine. How cute is she?
And also "now" these Andy Warhol soup cans that Lori picked up last year for me at Target:
I had to have them! Coolest real soup cans ever. They're in my pantry right "Now":
One more for the "Now" segment; you might want to choose  this Campbell's Sun-Ripened Yellow Tomato Soup from your grocer's shelf, if you prefer:

Okay, so I think want to have some tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch today.
Sounds good, doesn't it?

Ishi Discovers Snow

We had a light snow here in Kelsey yesterday.
Cheshire Cat, who will be 12 years old in May, has seen it all before, and he doesn't like it.
He was willing to go outside and check it out from the relative safety of the front porch.
Ishi is only a year and a half, and this is his first snowstorm that stuck around.  He was quite interested.

Ishi is not fond of rain, though in a lot of other ways he is a fan of water.  So I wasn't sure what he would think of snow. It wasn't very deep here, probably only a little over an inch.
He saw what Chessie thought of the whole thing, but he decided to check it out himself, not to be swayed by the opinions of a middle-aged orange short hair.
 Let's try the steps.
 So far so good.
What is over here under the rose bush?
 Ishi bitty footprints.
Chessie decided he wasn't letting the little guy have all the fun.
Never mind, not so much fun after all, silly little kit!
Hmmm, this white stuff is everywhere!
Well, time to take the first step.
 Maybe.
 And he blurrily forges ahead.
 Does it taste good?
 No lizards out right now.
In search of a tasty chickadee.
Glad I remembered my fur coat!
Just yesterday there were daffodils blooming around here.
Meanwhile, back on the porch. Chessie has seen a foot of snow in December 2009 and didn't want anything to do with that either. So a couple of inches isn't that big of a deal. Let's go back in!
Ishi took Chessie's advice after a bit of fun.  He decided it was a lot warmer to sit in the upstairs window and watch it snow.
 This snow stuff is tiring.
It's time for the young one's nap.
