The Smothers Brothers

I LOVE these two! I was thrilled to find this vintage LP in a thrift shop a while back It is pristine - it still had the plastic covering on it, which protected it over the years.
We used to watch The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour - LOVED it. I'm still hoping I might get the chance to see them in a live performance some day. I think they're great.
These two albums were packed away in our Mother's stuff. I am sure she found them at a thrift store, as well:

I missed this program (below) when it was on PBS last month. I'd have liked to have seen it. My friend gives me her copy of the program guide sometimes, but I got it too late to know this was on. I blame the stupid TV Guide magazine (that isn't) completely for this. I know I can look online - but I just don't. TV Guide no longer gives us the correct information for what is on our local stations. I plan to write more about this in an upcoming post. OH, YEAH - I have a lot more to say. Don't get me started.
Rant over (for now). Shout out to Dick and Tom - Love you guys!!

......she liked you best! i agree heidi - one of my favorite shows had flip wilson doing this skit to the beatles 'rocky racoon' - i remember laughing so hard i fell of the couch. i always think of them when someone famous gets in trouble for saying what they think - joan baez, dixie chicks etc etc. i was so angry when cbs took them off the air. i was thrilled to see pbs give them back to us for too short a time.

I love them too, and hate the TV Guide too. I absolutely loved their set on their TV show. I would love to see all of the shows again. I didn't know they were on a PBS special either. About TV Guide: not only do they not tell you what is on locally or have the right times, but now they keep having double issues and the second week is a complete joke, just a guess pretty much. I could guess what was on better than they can. Love T

Oh, my gosh! My sister had the album at the Purple Onion. She used to belong to a record club, and that was the monthly selection one month. I can still remember her getting it and how exciting it was to open it and play it. I can still remember They Call the Wind Mariah. That was the first time I had ever heard that name, and I loved it. What else is on there? Love, Deb

I loved that show! A few years ago my husband (with Lindsey's help) bought me a VCR tape of the show where the Beatles sung Hey Jude. I cried when I opened it. It was like getting back a chunk of my childhood. It also had Bobby Goldsboro on it singing Honey. I would love to have all the shows on DVD. 'Mom liked you best'! Twyla

--Corrected version-- :)
I was a bit young when their original CBS show aired, and most of my memories of that show are of clips seen in documentaries and such, but I clearly remember the summer replacement show they had (on NBC, I think). Father Guido Sarducci (Don Novello) was a regular on that show. I was so bummed when the network didn't pick up the show. These guys are still great!

I saw that PBS special too- wish they had shows like that one now-a-days! I got to see "Laugh In," "The Carol Burnett Show," and others like that in re-runs, and I loved them all! Along this same vein, have any of you seen the advertisements for the "Dean Martin" shows?? I want that sooo bad!!! How about if a bunch of us go in together and buy them all, then trade them around?

That's the strangest thing. I actually saw this program on PBS and I never knew about the Smothers Brothers before. It was a very well done program.
