Vintage Buttons And Notions And Such

Sis Lori here: I learned to sew in 4-H years ago and sewed a lot when a teenager and when my daughter was young. I have an older Elna sewing machine in a cabinet that belonged to our Grandma Nettie. I recently bought another inexpensive portable machine. I would like to sew some crafts and will probably sew for my grandaughter Addison.
Lately I have collected a lot of buttons: Here are some of the prettier ones in assorted blues:

Various yellows:

Pretty pinks:

Gorgeous greens:

And lovely reds:

I keep them in these jars on a shelf:

I have also collected holders for threads:

And bobbin holders:

This Singer sign with a vintage look hangs near my sewing corner:

I found these 2 patterns and buttons to cover while thrifting recently:

I think the graphics of the babies on these snap cards are great!

I won an auction on eBay recently with quite a few of these cards of buckles and buttons. The seller said they were found behind a wall of an old house they bought and were very dirty when I received them:

And last but not least, here are a few more vintage buttons on cards. I LOVE the graphics on these:

That's it!! Happy sewing!!!

The little girl in the Singer ad looks like you when you were little. Great items you've collected. I have a lot of old buttons too, they are so colorful and fun. Can't wait to see what you sew for Addision. Love T

Fantastic finds! I adore every one of those buttons and I have never seen bobbin holders like that. The way you have displayed the buttons is genius, so pretty. They look like jars of candy. You are right about the graphics on those buttons cards, amazing. Thanks for sharing your goodies.

i agree - i love love love buttons - and the way you have displayed them is great! i recently was given my grams button tin - and inside were the buttons i played with & ones i had matched up! what memories. i love your bobbin holders. my gram would use those type of buckles on the cloth 'belts' she would make that went with the dresses she made for me.
