Then And Now # 104: Hawaiian Punch

I don't know about you, but I like Hawaiian Punch.
 Always have.
There was a time when it only came in cans like these:
 "Let's have a party".
Sounds good to me!
Or you could buy it in a can containing frozen concentrate, like this:
And when "Punchy" came along, they put him on the can labels:
Fruit juicy, Hawaiian Punch:
You DO know what's about to happen to this poor guy, right?
They added different flavors, but it's just the original red that I like.
Here's an ad for canisters of powdered drink mix (sorry for the bad image - but you get the idea):
And an advertisement for book covers you could send for (in 1974):
"How about a nice Hawaiian Punch?"
This one is my favorite ad:
And of course, "Now", you can buy it in plastic bottles like these:
Or you can buy the Sugar Free "Singles To Go", like I do.
I actually like to add it to some water in a bottle, and then I just leave it in the refrigerator and take a few swigs every now and then.
That might sound weird, but that's what I do.

I haven't had a "Hawaiian Punch" in years, but my mouth remembers that taste well. I actually like the grape the best, but I don't know if they still make that flavor. Very fun post. Love T

That body builder graphic is so neat!

I'm not much of a Hawaiian punch fan - you did take me on a trip down memory lane.

A few weeks ago I showed an old Wacky Package sticker then a newer one spoofing Hawaiian Punch on my blog. The older one is a can, and the newer is a plastic bottle. These ads are great! Fun look back.

We used to have Hawaiian Punch often and I always loved it but I remember using the concentrate base. You could make a single serving or enough to serve a large crowd. Now my mouth is watering for a nice cold glass of Hawaiian Punch on ice! I think I will have to look for it next time I'm at the store.

At our wedding, no one remembered the grape juice for our wedding communion. Someone brought us punch. It was Hawaiian Punch! We still laugh about it 38 years later

One summer back in the '70's, my cousins and I drank GALLONS of this stuff because you could get one free admission to Sea World (San Diego) with 10 paper labels from the cans. To this day, I can't stand Hawaiian Punch! LOL! Thanks for sparking my memory! :)

I love Hawaiian Punch too! We always had it in the big can that you had to open with a church key bottle/can opener.

I think I'd better get me a nice Hawaiian Punch!
