Fishing the Rogue River, the View from the Bank

Last weekend we went to a birthday party in Shady Cove, Oregon.  The birthday girl lives on the Rogue River, and it being the first weekend in June, the fishing, rafting and kayaking had begun. It provided much free entertainment for us as we chatted and kicked back, enjoying friends we hadn't seen for a while, and a large selection of beer and wines!
The fishermen (and women) were out in droves, trying for trout and/or salmon. The next door neighbors were also having a party and these gentlemen below were taking part in a fishing contest.
Rafts and boats were in equal numbers, and the usual amount of passengers was three, but one boat had four.
I decided that someday I would love to try the fly fishing from a boat, while my strong hubby mans the oars.
But a leisurely float with a bit of rowing also looks like an enjoyable trip.
The fisherman below started at the banks next door, ended up in a boat fighting his catch, and did bring it in later a bit down-river, winning the fishing contest.
It was a great afternoon, topped off by a great barbecue dinner. We'll be back with our poles!
