Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

I have added a few more vintage Better Homes and Gardens magazines to my stash in the last couple of weeks:
And I came across this recipe (inside the magazine shown above):
Crisp Toffee Bars - mmmm the recipe looks good to me. I thought I had everything on hand, and decided I needed to try them. I know I have some walnuts somewhere in the freezer, but I couldn't find them. That's all right, I did manage to find some pecans. No problem:
Mix it up, press it into a jelly roll pan:
I don't think I'd call them toffee bars - to me that would mean that the chocolate would be on the TOP. They're really just like a blondie, or a chocolate chip cookie in bar form.
Better yet, like a Toll House Cookie in bar form. Oh, yeah - that's what I'm talking about!

Yep, they're GOOD.
( Do you want to try them? And, can you read the recipe by clicking on the picture? If not, let me know, and I will add it here. Oh - and I only baked them 20 minutes and they were perfect. In fact, they are TOO good.)

I love blondies. I used to make them for all our road trips, but got out of the habit (or maybe it was Weight Watchers). These look very good. There is a road trip coming up soon... hummmm... I might have to make some. Love T

i used to bake a lot when i first lived in michigan before i moved to calif. then i only did brownies. they used to make mint choc chips and also rasberry choc chips. i would make 3 batches of brownies to take to yosemite - raspberry choc/mint choc/and regular choc. yum. also if you use the recipe on the back of the reeses peanut butter chip bag for the chocolate cookies replace the peanut butter chips with the choc mint chips and double yumm! i am not a mint fan but those dk choc cookies made the mint chip addition really good. i think you started a tangent heidi.....
