Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens

Just us chickens today! In the form of: pages from a vintage book that belongs to my sister, an orange chicken from Sweden that is painted in the Dala Horse style, and a ceramic chicken made for holding cheese cubes or olives on picks:
Another page from an old children's book - Mrs. Hen has decided she doesn't need a new hat after all, a good lesson in frugality for her chicks in these tough economic times:

Cookie cutters for when you want chicken-shaped cookies:

Bouillon that I bought only because I liked the chicken on the box, a page from a 1967 book "Hors D'oeuvre" (published by Determined Productions, Inc., same as the Zodiac Calendar ) , and a sandwich pick:
And three more chickens - these were here in the house:

And if you would like to hear the tune that inspired the title of this post, go have a listen here - it's a catchy little ditty!

love your chickens and the ditty. my mom would not let me have pets so when we would come to the farm where i now live i would play with the chicks and every so often a baby bunny. i have a soft spot for chicks. the one where you could put toothpicks with cheese and olives on it is soooo cool. my gram usually packed away or gave away all gifts but one of our relatives on a rare visit gave her a blue covered dish and the top/lid of course.....was a chicken. she displayed it immediately! my grams chicken coop still is intact - previous renter did something with the roosts (that my gramps had hand made) though - boo hoo.

My good friend and garage sale buddy Denise has some chicken items in her kitchen that are really cute. She found a great print with a boy holding a chicken that just fits in there great. The last couple of weekends I have seen several feed stores on the Divide with cute little chicks. I would love to have some, but with all the fox, mountain lions and bear around here they probably wouldn't last long. Love T

What cute cookie cutters! Where did you find those?

Tifferbob - I've had those cutters for so long that I don't remember! But probably at an antique show or shop - before I started on eBay, and before I began frequenting thrift stores, that's where I did most of my shopping.
