What's Penny Wearing? #151 Aprons!

Penny wanted to model some of the aprons I've found recently, so while it did take some time to dress her up and get photos, I did finally get it done!
This one is my favorite:

Vintage flower power at it's finest:

With a cute pocket, to boot...

This next one is awfully pretty, too, in bright red ..

... and it has a rather glorious pocket on the front, as well, in a Pennsylvania Dutch floral design:

Here's a cute one - with anthropomorphic kitchen utensils, rather a happy-looking lot, too, I might add:

And they want to know, "What's Cookin'?"

Here'a a simple one trimmed with yellow rick-rack:

I do love a nice floral print on a black background:

Here's one that seems rather nice for spring:

Gingham with a cross-stitched design in aqua and black:

And my last one is a great, utilitarian apron in a fabulous green paisley print:

I like the pockets in the front.

Yep, this one's a keeper; I'm going to use it.

I just need to fashion another tie for it, as one of them is missing.
I think I can handle that.

What's Penny Wearing? #150 She's Dressed For National Wear Red Day!

Penny is sporting a vintage blouse and skirt of mine from the late 1970's or early 1980's.

She's wearing it in support of  National Wear Red Day.

 I'm wearing red today, too.
The sequined heart pin I found earlier this week at a local thrift shop is a perfect addition - a heart for American Heart Month and the Go Red For Women campaign to help fund research on  women's cardiovascular health and raise their awareness of same.

It's just a simple outfit; Penny isn't feeling fancy today.

Speaking of heart health - I had an echocardiogram recently.
I've never had one before, so that was interesting.
I haven't heard anything yet about the results of it.
When your family has a history of heart "issues", and your doctor says you need a test, you go have a test.
My new heart pin goes very well with the one I already had, below - and that little red dress pin will be a nice addition to either one.

What's Penny Wearing? #149 Vintage "Campus Girl" Quilted Calico Bathrobe

I found the cutest vintage robe at Junkee in Reno, the last time Lori and I went up there to visit our friend Tamra.
We had such a great visit; we LOVE going up there to see her.
And I also got to meet her significant other Gordon, too, for the first time.
They have a lovely home, and she fixed us a wonderful dinner one night.
She also took us around to thrift shops - a favorite pastime, as you well know.
I always want to shop at Junkee, too - I know I'll find some cool vintage stuff in that fabulous shop.
Even though I am writing this very late, I wanted to say a very special thank you to Tamra and Gordon, from Lori and I, both!!
So - here's the vintage robe:

Quilted cotton, with lace trim on the collar and pockets...

The sweetest detail with a bow in the back.....

I'm virtually positive it's from the mid-to-late 1960's.

The label alone is one indication of date!

Super-cute, totally "granny chic" ; hey - I'm a Granny and I'm cool with that!
And it even FITS me.

But I'm still trying to decide whether to keep it or sell it!

What's Penny Wearing? #148 One Of The Cutest Vintage Aprons EVER!

I was so delighted when I found this vintage apron at a thrift store:

I love everything about it!

I love the colors, I love the patchwork-style print, I love the polka-dot waistband, pockets, ties, and trim:

I love the fact that the fabric is so nice and crisp and clean that it does not appear to have ever even been worn:

I love that it fits me!

I love the fact that if you wear it over a blouse, it can essentially be considered a jumper.
When I found it, I intended to sell it, but the fact that I could wear it myself has proven to be somewhat a deterrent, as far as THAT goes, let me tell you.

Green, blue, flowers, patchwork print, polka-dots - what more could this vintage-lovin' girl want, I ask you??

Well, this is actually pretty darned cool, too:

Just last week, I bought a vintage Better Homes And Gardens magazine (October 1974) at a vintage shop, and when I came home and looked through it, I found the advertisement shown above.
It appears to be just like mine, quite possibly in the "blue" patchwork version.

What's Penny Wearing? #147 A Colorful Embroidered Vintage Skirt

Today, Penny is wearing an absolutely gorgeous vintage skirt that I got at a thrift store in Washington.

 I can't say that I "found" it, because my friend Kari actually spotted it first and pointed it out to me;

It's a stunner, isn't it?

 Embroidery with mirrors - I'm pretty sure I had at least one item of clothing back in the 70's that was made from embroidered fabric like this.

 Unbelievably colorful and fabulous!

 With the skirt, Penny is modeling a vintage blouse I've had since the 70's:

 White cotton, Made In India - a light and pretty little thing!

 (As opposed to the skirt, which is REALLY heavy!)

And yet together, Penny and I think they make a pretty good pairing!

What's Penny Wearing? #146 - A Christmas Ensemble

 Today, Penny wanted to show you the pretty sweater and skirt I found that would be just perfect for Christmas.

A crocheted cotton sweater in a pretty green:

And the skirt is red cotton denim, brand new with tag:

My tree brooch is missing a rhinestone or two, but it still sparkles, and I added a lone tree earring to be it's little "mini me".

I thought they'd all look pretty together for Christmas!
