My Rainbow

The other day, I held a rainbow in the palm of my hand......

....but only for a fleeting moment.
It brought to mind a favorite poem:
Bubbles, by Carl Sandburg
Two bubbles found they had rainbows on their curves.
They flickered out saying:
It was worth being a bubble, just to have held that rainbow thirty seconds."

The Queen Of Hearts

Just another great illustration from one of my favorite old books "Mother Goose", the original Volland Edition, with illustrations by Frederick Richardson. This one seemed an appropriate choice for the upcoming holiday.
Now I feel like I want to make some Valentine cherry tarts or something.....

Seriously - No Bull.

Well, okay....maybe a little bull.
I saw this great vintage "Taurus The Bull" bank at Antiques Etc. in downtown Sonora. I have been trying to use some restraint, so I resisted the urge to purchase him.

You guessed it! I could NOT get him out of my mind, so I went back the next day and brought him home.
And I'm not one bit sorry - no, I'm not.

The Grooviest Shoes

I feel pretty confident in saying that I would have probably given just about anything back in 1973 to have been able to have these shoes! Crazy? You are entitled to think so, if you like - but I loved pastels, I loved pink and blue, and I loved platforms.

I totally think I would have been too cool for school in these babies. I had clothes that would have been PERFECT to wear with them!
I am not EVEN kidding.

And a very nice vintage knitting or sewing bag/stand....

......or whatever you call it.

70's Capes And Sweaters To Keep You Warm

We're having such nice spring-like weather this winter here in northern California, but perhaps it's colder where you are, so today I am sharing some fashions I found in McCall's Needlework and Crafts, and Good Housekeeping Needlecraft from 1975 (sent to me by my friend Faith in Michigan - thanks, Faith!).

The furry lining on that fourth one may be a bit much, but other than that, I think they would stand the test of time, and look pretty nice even today.
Capes and hooded sweaters - layer up in them to keep warm, if you need to!

A few moments in the life of Luna, a siamese cat

Good morning. I am Luna, Tina's middle cat. I am 8 years old, and I am very lovely and soft. I spend a lot of time sleeping in various parts of the house, usually wherever I look the prettiest.
The other day my mom was sitting on her stairs taking pictures and I decided to come down and see what all the fuss was about.

I think she was taking pictures of her screen door again. It was a beautiful day, even though it is January, and the door was open, and the sun was shining.

I stopped for a little bit of scritch-scritch, which is what we call scratching around here.

Then I decided I wanted to go outside, so I made sure my mom noticed that I wanted her to open the door.

I am very subtle about my requests, I just usually look out and sometimes give her a begging look. I very rarely meow.

She used to just run over and let me out, but now since she is recuperating from hip surgery, she isn't as fast to do my bidding.

Waiting is hard, and sometimes I change my mind.

Never mind, I will find something else to do.

No, I want out and I want out now.

Come ON mom...

Oh boy, she's finally opening the door. I like this part, it is so exciting, after all the anticipation.

Off I go, out into the world, to see what I can see.

Hmmm, interesting smells out here on the porch. I am not sure what all that is about.

Mom, don't leave, I am not sure about this. Just wait, I might want to come back in.

I want in now, what are you waiting for? Open the door.

Come on, please? Do I have to meow?

I just don't understand what always takes so long.

Okay, let's come back in, it is probably time for a nap anyway.

Never mind, I am staying out. Thanks for being there at my beck and call, mom... Please be here when I want in, I will let you know when I am ready.
