Sis Lori here:
My cat Cleo (short for Cleopatra, Tina helped me name her), is mostly an indoor cat; she likes the comforts of home. I live near a busy street, but I have a nice little fenced yard.
She does love to go out on occasion and chew some grass, of course, and then come in and throw it up, but that's what cats do.
Here she is all settled into an open box:
One day, she was all attentive next to the fence and I could see something moving in the cracks.
So I peeked over this fence, not in good shape, I know:
And here was what she heard and saw, a cute fawn, all alone, settling down for a winter's nap. He heard me, look at those huge eyes and ears!!
Doesn't he blend in well? I sure hope he stays away from the road!

What a lovely tale to wake up to this morning. Ishi, Luna and Cheshire Cat are happy to say hi to their cousin Cleo. We had a fawn in the irises next to our driveway about a month ago. I hope they are all somewhere warm this frosty Gold Country morning! Love T.
Precious little fawn. Cleo has that hunting instinct! Good that she likes the indoors.

i love cats! love that you got a chance to 'capture' the fawn for us to see.
Absolutely precious! The kitty and the fawn. I would so love to encounter something so beautiful in my yard. Being close to the American River brings me SKUNKS! A far cry from a beautiful fawn for sure! I would so love to snuggle up with your sweet Cleo & listen to her soothing purrrr's.

Even though we grew up seeing them all the time, there's still just something almost magical to me about seeing deer and watching them. It seems as though Cleo is as interested as we all are, doesn't it? I kind of love that all three of us Gold Country Girls can still watch deer from our windows at home.
